Neblett helps Columbia earn first volleyball win of season

Columbia University senior middle hitter Kesi Neblett (Gatton Academy/Russellville Class of 2013) tallied eight kills to help the Lions win their first volleyball match of the season Friday with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-17 25-21) decision over Manhattan in the Columbia Classic in New York.

Neblett also had two digs and a block assist in the win for Columbia (1-4), which faces Bryant on Saturday in another Columbia Classic match.

Kentucky Wesleyan freshman Sierra Morrow (Logan County Class of 2016) totaled five kills to help the Panthers beat Oakland City 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-16) Friday in the KWC Invitational.

Morrow also had two aces, a block and three block assists in the win.

In a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-14) loss to Tiffin on Friday, Morrow totaled two kills, an ace and a block assist.

Kentucky Wesleyan (1-4) is back in action Saturday with two more matches in the KWC Invitational against Glenville State and Bluefield State.

Austin Peay junior cross country runner Sarah-Emily Woodward (Bowling Green Class of 2014) helped the Lady Governors to a sixth-place finish in Friday’s UTC PowerAde Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Woodward finished 34th overall with a time of 12 minutes, 43.51 seconds in the two-mile race.

Austin Peay next competes Sept. 17 at the Asheville Cross Country Invitational in Asheville, N.C.
