New version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol premieres at Kentucky Rep

Kentucky Repertory Theatre is unveiling a new adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic holiday play A Christmas Carol December 2 to 18 on the theatre’s Main Stage in historic downtown Horse Cave.

A Christmas Carol marks critically acclaimed New York City-based theatre company No.11 Productions’ triumphant return to Kentucky Repertory Theatre, where they produced the smash hits Quest for the West: Adventures on the Oregon Trail! and MythUnderstood this past summer. The production features professional NYC actors joined by local Kentucky youth/adult actors.

Danny Tieger, an accomplished Los Angeles based actor and songwriter who has regularly performed on TV’s Hubworld and is currently in development with the Jim Henson Company for a new kids TV show, stars as Scrooge. This original adaptation of Dickens’ classic features live music, puppetry and the high-energy family fun that define this NYC theatre company.

“We’re excited about this production and about having No. 11 Productions returning to Kentucky Rep,” says KRT board member Sandra Wilson. “We are also happy to be able to host almost 2,000 students who are already booked for morning performances.” According to Wilson, there are still some seats available for schools that have not yet reserved their seats.

Performances are at 7:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 pm on Sundays. Tickets are $17 for adults with discounts for students, seniors, groups and members. They are available online at www.kentuckyrep.org or by calling (270) 786-2177. Group reservations are also available by email at artisfun4me@hotmail.com.
