Quilt show continues through the weekend at the Kentucky Museum
There are still a few days left to view the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society’s annual show at the Kentucky Museum. Now through June 6 you can see the show which featuring “Quilts Inspired by Books”.
All types of handwork including appliqué, piece-work, classical styles as well as innovative newer styles were accepted by show co-chairs Becky Leavy and Nancy Shirley from Bowling Green and entry was open to all Kentucky residents.
You can view pictures of part of the exhibit on their flicker page. Some of the books that inspired entries were Where the Wild Things Are, Twight, Gone with the Wind and the Bible.
The Organization founded in 1981 boasts over 600 members and two auxilary clubs. Their mission is:
- To promote understanding, appreciation, and knowledge of the art and craft of quiltmaking.
- To support and expand the collection and preservation of Kentucky quilts and the records of Kentucky quiltmakers and their work.
- To undertake such activities as shows, contests, and educational workshops.
