As the festivities for the Kentucky Derby pick up later this week, an Allen County marching band will join in a parade. 

J. Shawn Huff, a director of bands for the Allen County School District, said the Allen County-Scottsville Marching Patriot Band is excited for its march in Louisville on Thursday. 

“This is our first invitation,” he said in a news release. “We will be taking 90 kids. We will be performing ‘Fireball’ by Pitbull, arranged by Tom Wallace.” 

The band will march in the Republic Bank Pegasus Parade during the Kentucky Derby Festival, which leads up to the derby on Saturday. It’s among 11 bands participating in the parade, which has a route of 1.7 miles and covers 17 city blocks. It will be broadcast on Louisville’s WAVE-TV at 4:30 p.m. CDT.
