Meredith, Whitehouse boost Midway to another tournament win
Midway University freshman Kayla Meredith (Edmonson County Class of 2016) and junior Kelsey Whitehouse (South Warren Class of 2014) posted top-five finishes to help the Eagles claim their third victory of the season Monday in the UPIKE Fall Invitational at StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg.
Meredith was tied for the lead after Sunday’s opening round with a 77, then shot a second-round 85 to finish third overall with 18-over par 162 total.
Whitehouse tallied rounds of 83 and 81 to finish with a 20-over 164 to tie for fifth place overall.
Midway is back in action Oct. 16-17 at the Donald Ross Invitational at Elks Country Club in McDermott, Ohio.

Rose-Hulman junior Ashton Foushee (Glasgow Class of 2014) tallied a top-10 showing in the Franklin Lady Grizzly Fall Invitational on Saturday in Franklin, Ind.
Foushee fired a 14-over par 86 to finish seventh overall. Rose-Hulman senior Taylor King (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2013) shot an even 100 to finish 18th. The Fightin’ Engineers combined for a 354, good for second place in the four-team tournament.
Rose-Hulman is back in action Oct. 8 in the HCAC (Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) Golf Championships at Hulman Links Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind.

Lindsey Wilson junior Cody Miller (Barren County Class of 2014) rolled a five-game total of 907 to finish 38th overall in Sunday’s Thomas N. Burriss Memorial at Executive Lanes in Louisville.
Miller had a high game of 213 and helped the Blue Raiders to a 12th-place finish in the team standings.
On Saturday in the Louisville Collegiate Classic at Kingpin Lanes, Miller rolled a two-game 363 total with a high game of 200 as Lindsey Wilson finished 13th.
In the women’s competition, Lindsey Wilson sophomore Kristina Waller (Barren County Class of 2015) rolled a two-game total of 227 to finish 97th on Saturday, then had a one-game total of 125 on Sunday. Lindsey Wilson’s women were 13th in Saturday’s Louisville Collegiate Classic, then finished 12th on Sunday in the Burriss Memorial.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action starting Oct. 29 for the two-day Bulldog Classic at Eastland Lanes in Lexington.
