Renowned Conductor, Hugh Wolff in Bowling Green

Orchestra Kentucky is pleased to announce a conducting master class led by internationally-acclaimed conductor Hugh Wolff.  Maestro Wolff has conducted major orchestra around the world, including most of the top American orchestras – the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra and San Francisco Symphony – and the London Symphony Orchestra and orchestra throughout Europe, Australia, Japan and Canada.

Maestro Wolff will provide feedback to five conductors, who will be selected to direct a string quintet. Non-participating conductors will observe and will have a chance to ask Wolff questions at the end of the session.

“The workshop is part of the National Symphony Orchestra’s statewide tour of Kentucky,” said Orchestra Kentucky’s Music Director, Jeffrey Reed.  “Wolff is among the very best conductors in the world and we‘re fortunate to have him here in Bowling Green. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for area band, orchestra and choral teachers, as well as music students of all ages. Whether they are one of the five conductors who will receive direct feedback or a member of the audience, everyone will take something away from the session.”

The event is free and open to the public.  Non-participating conductors need not apply.   The master class will take place Friday, February 18th, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:20 pm at Western Kentucky University’s Van Meter Hall.

This unique opportunity is made possible through the generosity of the Kentucky Arts Council, Maestro Hugh Wolff, the National Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Kentucky.
