Vette City Roller Derby’s first home bout this Saturday

What’s turquoise and black and bruised all over? The ladies of Vette City Roller Derby! For nearly nine months we’ve been practicing booty-blocking and hip-whipping and knee-dropping, and now it’s time for the fine folks of Bowling Green to see what we’ve been up to! VCRD is proud to announce our first public bout, an intra-league scrimmage between VCRD’s two teams, the Vette City Vixens and the Bowling Green Hot Broads.

This event will take place Saturday, May 8, at The Skate Box on Three Springs Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the action gets underway at 7 p.m. In addition to lean, mean, roller derby action, our zombie cheerleaders – the Little Dead Gore-vettes – will provide half-time entertainment. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Hope Harbor, a sexual trauma recovery center in Bowling Green. Tickets may be purchased from your favorite derby girl or Tidball’s, The Skate Box, Carter’s Tattoo Company, Shenanigan’s Wine and Spirits, Greener Groundz and Great Escape Records & Comics. Children five and under get in free!

Southcentral Kentucky has been good to Vette City Roller Derby, and we are eager to repay the favor with some edge-of-your-seat, fast-paced roller derby. Join us at Wah-Bah Steakhouse and Saloon afterwards to celebrate the beginning of a beautiful relationship: VCRD and Bowling Green!
