Art Exhibits at the Warren County Public Library

Jennifer Sims will exhibit her art in the Porter Café at the Main Library.  Sims has been teaching Art in Hart county for the past thirteen years.  She was named “Teacher of the Year” by the Hart County Chamber of Commerce in 2008. Sims also is an Adjunct Professor of Art for Western Kentucky University. Sims is on the Education Advisory Committee for SKYPAC, Performing Arts Center in Bowling Green, KY. She is also on the Board of Directors for KyAEA.

“In my artwork I try to create personal spaces of sanctuary through the use of color and texture,” says Sims.  “I work abstractly to take the viewer away from representational reality that they face on a daily basis. Hopefully the viewer is transcended into a space that is peaceful and comforting.”

Cherylan Franke will show her art at the Bob Kirby Branch. Franke is relatively new to the amateur art scene in Bowling Green.  She paints on paper with water color, acrylic, crayon, pencil, ink.   Subjects are portraits, landscapes, old buildings of community significance and outdoor still life.  She has received commissions for paintings of old country stores, homestead and farm buildings, and county court houses from middle America. For the exhibit at the Kirby Branch, she will create a special tribute piece about Kentucky authors.

Both exhibits start December 5 and run through December 30.  For more information about the exhibits or to inquire about exhibiting art at the Warren County Public Library, contact Jayne Pelaski at jaynep@warrenpl.org.
