Nominate Bowling Green for Google’s new high speed fiber network

The City of Bowling Green is currently applying to be one of a select few communities that Google will deploy an experimental, high speed fiber network in. This fiber network, while being offered at competitive prices, will be around 50-200 times faster than typical cable and DSL modems found in most homes today.

With the added benefit of a fiber network, all of our businesses and facilities could advance their use of technology. For example, with a fiber network you could be located in a local health clinic while streaming 3D medical imaging over the web to a specialist in New York City to review. Bowling Green could greatly benefit from this as our community shifts to a more knowledge-based, technology-driven economy.

Along with the City submitting an application to be chosen for this project, citizens can also log onto www.bgky.org and click on Google: Fiber Initiative for Communities and then click on nominate your community. Every nomination that we receive will get us one step closer to this great opportunity. If you would like to see this possibility become a reality, tell Google why Bowling Green deserves to be on the cutting edge.

The deadline for nominations is March 26, so hurry and make your voice heard.
