The 11th annual Global Fest in the Barrens

The 11th annual Global Fest in the Barrens (www.barrenglobalfest.com) returns to Glasgow-Barren County on Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. To 8:00 P.M. held on the Glasgow Public Square in Glasgow, Kentucky.  Global Fest is a Celebration of World Cultures and American Unity. Global Fest promotes interaction among diverse individuals by discovering their similarities and differences. A fun filled day promoting Education, Entertainment, Children’s Activities, sharing and enjoying the Diversity in our community. 

Kentucky Music will provide the Sound System that will fill the air with performances from Gospel Music provided by the Zion Hill Boom Squad and Diamond Praise Dance from Park City Baptist Church, Park City, Ky. Christian Music by the Crossland Community Church Praise Band.The Omega Force Christian Strong Team with the world’s greatest message will spread the good news.  Mexican Artist-Mariachi Band from Louisville, Ky., Ernie Small Blues Band from Bowling Green, Ky. will present a Genre of Country, Motown, Blues, and 70’s Music.  The Bailey Birge Band will enlighten the young people and seniors in the community with Country Music. Jenny Lu & Klassic Krew will provide Country, 70’s Music and a varity of music for the Heart. 

Street performers Zingara Belly Dancers will dance in the street to the sound of Middle Eastern Music, Lindsey Syra will get the audience involved by performing Zumba and Ricardo Huffman will lead the audience into the Electric Slide and Hip Hop Dancing. All About Dance Students will perform Classic, Hip Hop and a variety of other Dances. The Glasgow Children’s Theatre directed by Edward Sakowicz will perform past Plays 

The Festival will come to a close with music by Tyrone Dunn Experience featuring a R&B, Blues, and Motown. Home School Dance Team will teach Ball Room Dancing.

Charles Mansfield Auto Show is organized by Brian Hogan All Makes and Models of Cars, Trucks and Bikes can exhibit their vehicles at the Festival. Sixteen Specialty Trophies will be awarded to the winners.  

Teens do you think you can sing? The Teen Idol is open to teens ages 13-19.  Contest prize for the winner is $300.00 and a Trophy and second prize is $100.00 and a Trophy. Space is limited so download your application at www.barrenglobalfest.com or call 270-404-5175.  

Children will gather in Children’s World sponsored by YMCA and Crossland Community Church (next to Commonwealth Broadway Building). Children will talk to Scooby Doo and Dora the Explorer look a likes. Broadway the Clown will give out balloons and candy to the children. Activities for the children will include Face painting, Inflatable’s, Piñata Burst, International Crafts and Hot Rods Mascot-Axle. Highland Hills Church Stick Ministry will perform in the entry of Children’s World. 

Food vendors will provide tasty Cuisines, Carnival Food and American favorites.

New Attractions this year includes: Free Rockin B Horse & Carriage rides for the family. Scooby Doo look-a-like and Hot Rods Mascot, Axle the Dog

Lindsey Wilson’s International Exhibit that includes over 40 Different Cultures represented. All About Dance Studio Students, Zumba performed by Lindsey Syra and Electric Slide & Hip Hop performed by Ricardo Huffman, Home School  Students Ball Room Dancing. Games Exhibit & Contest-BBQ eating, Pie eating, Watermelon eating, and a Cake Walk 

Global Fest is a Free Family Community Festival.
