Giorgio Men’s Wear store leaving Greenwood Mall

Giorgio Men’s Wear, a clothing store that has been a fixture in Bowling Green’s Greenwood Mall for nearly 16 years, will soon be moving out for larger quarters nearby.

Hana Dabit, owner of the Bowling Green Giorgio store, said he purchased the former Dollar General building on Cave Mill Road near the mall and plans to move the store into that space in March.

The move will give his store more space and increased visibility, Dabit said.

“We’ve been growing our business, especially the wedding side of it,” he said. “We needed more space to host wedding parties.”

Dabit said the current location near Belk department store in the mall is 2,200 square feet. He plans to occupy 4,000 square feet of the 8,000-square-foot Dollar General building and lease the rest.

The move will help the store accommodate the growth it has experienced in tailoring and in both the wedding and prom businesses.

“We are running out of space,” Dabit said. “We’re now doing 100 percent of our tailoring here, so this will give us more room for that. Our wedding business has grown. That and the prom business are our two biggest things.”

Dabit said the extra room will also allow him to stock more suits and possibly attract more business by being located on Cave Mill Road.

“We feel like this will give us better visibility,” Dabit said. “We’re right on the street. We thought it was a great location, and we’ll still be close to the Greenwood Mall.”

Dabit hopes to open the new location in March but said the mall location will remain open until his lease expires in August. Giorgio has been in the mall since 2003.

“We’ll have both locations open for a few months,” he said. “We will be looking to hire a few more people.”

Dabit said the remodeling of the Dollar General building is nearly complete.

“We’ve pretty much remodeled everything from the flooring to the lights,” he said. “It will look like a brand-new store.”
