Callahan paces Hilltoppers at Georgia Southern Individual Collegiate
Sophomore Crimson Callahan shot the second-lowest round of his career Monday to lead Western Kentucky men’s golf team at the Georgia Southern Individual Collegiate.
With his performance, Callahan earned the final spot on WKU’s team roster for the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate on Feb. 11-12 at South Alabama. The Hilltoppers used the individual event in Georgia as a qualifying opportunity for the last spot in the upcoming tournament.
Callahan finished tied for 37th in the individual field with a three-round total of 226 (81-74-71) at the par-72, 6,900-yard Georgia Southern University Golf Course in Statesboro, Ga. He improved with each round, capped by his 1-under 71 on Monday.
Redshirt freshman Dawson McDaniel tied for 49th with a 230 (79-77-74) total – also improving across each round – while true freshman Dominic Brettkelly tied for 56th at 232 (77-74-81).
Sophomore Chase Landrum (84-77-78–239) and senior Blake Smith (82-82-82–246) rounded out the scoring for the Hilltoppers.
Callahan will join redshirt senior Billy Tom Sargent, senior Stuart Easton, redshirt junior Linus Lo and junior Tom Bevington in competition next week in Mobile.{&end}
