Scott helps EKU women win Bluegrass Invitational

Eastern Kentucky senior Ciara Scott (Bowling Green Class of 2014) turned in an eighth-place finish to help the Colonels beat a field that included host Kentucky on Saturday in the Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington.

Scott completed the 5K course in 17 minutes, 48 seconds to deliver a scoring finish for EKU.

Eastern Kentucky, ranked No. 6 in the Southeast, is back in action Sept. 30 at the Greater Louisville Classic.

Centre College senior Marisa Moore (Glasgow Class of 2014) turned in a seventh-place finish in Friday’s Berea/Centre College Cross Country Jamboree.

Moore finished the two-mile race in 12 minutes, 22.25 seconds.

In the men’s 5K race, Centre sophomore Wilson Blakeman (Warren Central Class of 2016) was 29th in 17:28.97.

Centre is back in action Saturday at the Berea Invitational.

Campbellsville senior Ross Allen (South Warren Class of 2014) paced area runners at Friday’s Arthur J. Sciubba Cross Country Invitational at Phil Moore Park.

Allen finished 30th overall in 16 minutes, 56.52 seconds. Lindsey Wilson sophomore Trajon Hall (Bowling Green Class of 2016) was 38th in 17:14.98, and Georgetown senior Ben Peterson (Bowling Green Class of 2014) was 49th in 18:01.05.

In the women’s race, Lindsey Wilson sophomore Taylor Jones (Warren Central Class of 2016) finished 31st in 22:40.65. 

Campbellsville and Georgetown are back in action Saturday in the Berea College Invitational. Lindsey Wilson runs next on Sept. 23 at the Austin Peay University Invitational.

Senior Ashton Foushee (Glasgow Class of 2014) led the Rose-Hulman women’s golf team to a second-place finish at the Hanover Invitational.

Foushee led her team by finished tied for fourth place overall with with rounds of 84 on Saturday and 79 on Sunday for a 19-over 163.

Rose-Hulman is back in action Saturday at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.

Centre freshman middle hitter Aby Dallas (Bowling Green Class of 2017) chipped in with four kills in the Colonels’ 3-2 volleyball win over Franklin (Ind.) on Saturday in a tournament hosted by Hanover (Ind.).

Dallas also had two digs, an assist and one block assist.

Centre (3-2) is back in action Wednesday at Mt. St. Joseph (Ohio).

Pikeville freshman libero Brittany Reels (Greenwood Class of 2017) led the Bears in digs in all three matches played over the weekend in Richmond, Ind.

In a 3-0 loss to IU-East on Saturday, Reels had 10 digs along with three service points and two assists. Later that day in a 3-1 loss to Capital, Reels finished with 18 digs and a kill.

Then on Sunday in a 3-1 win over Earlham (Ind.), Reels tallied 21 digs and three assists.

Pikeville (4-7) is back in action Tuesday against visiting West Virginia Tech.

Sophomore middle hitter Sierra Morrow (Logan County Class of 2016) helped host Kentucky Wesleyan go unbeaten over the weekend in the Kentucky Wesleyan College Invitational volleyball tournament.

Morrow had 6 kills, 4 block assists, 3 service points and an assist in Friday’s 3-0 win over Oakland City (Ind.). Later that day, she tallied five kills, four service points, two block assists and two digs in a 3-1 win over Kentucky State.

On Saturday, Morrow had three kills, four assists and three service points in a 3-0 win over Bluefield State. She finished the day with five kills, three block assists, three service points, an assist and a dig in a 3-0 win over Brescia.

Kentucky Wesleyan freshman Lydia Jackson (South Warren Class of 2017) added eight assists, two service points and a dig in the win over Bluefield.

Kentucky Wesleyan (4-4) is back in action Tuesday at Trevecca Nazarene.

For Brescia, senior defensive specialist Courtney Reels (South Warren Class of 2014) played major minutes. In a 3-2 loss to Oakland City on Friday, Reels had three assists, two digs and a kill. Later that day against Bluefield State, Reels totaled nine digs and three kills in a 3-0 win.

On Saturday in a 3-2 loss to Kentucky State, Reels totaled four digs and an ace.

Brescia (6-6) hosts Oakland City on Thursday.
