Bowling Green, Ky. has been a major hub for girls’ softball for many years and next weekend is no exception.  Michael Buchanon, Basil Griffin & Ephram White parks will host the Amateur Softball Association 14-U A Northern National Girls’ Fast Pitch Tournament with play beginning Thursday, July 27.  The Championships will be on Sunday, July 31.  Each team is guaranteed at least 4 games making the tournament an 180+ game event.   There are 65-70 teams from over 8 states represented and each team has qualified through their own regional events to win the honor to play in Bowling Green.  Teams will start arriving in Bowling Green on Tuesday. 

The week’s events are kicked off with Opening Ceremonies at Candlewood Suites on Tuesday night followed by a Coach’s breakfast and tournament draw at the Holiday Inn on Wednesday morning. The opening ceremonies at Candlewood Suites will be in conjunction with its second annual “Wage the Fight” concert/fundraiser to raise awareness of Leukemia Lymphoma.  This event is free and open to the public with a live and silent auction, free food, and music from Minimum Wage and Skip Bond and the Fugitives.  All proceeds will be donated to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.  

Many of the players and families will be visiting Bowling Green for the first time and a positive experience will encourage them to return soon.  We hope area businesses and residents will welcome them and come on out to watch some elite athletes compete at our elite venues.
