Bowfishing 101 Seminar Set For April 16-17 at Rough River Dam

A free bowfishing seminar will be offered April 16-17 at Rough River Dam State Resort Park.

The Bowfishing 101 Seminar is sponsored by the Passing on the Tradition Support Group and the Kentucky Department of Parks.

The seminar is open to adults and youths interested in learning more about this fast-action archery sport. Participants will learn the basics of hunting fish with a bow and arrow. The program covers different types of equipment, safety practices and how bowfishing plays an important role in rough fish conservation. This would include species such as carp, gar, buffalo and drum.

The free seminar will begin Friday night with a “meet and greet” and continues Saturday with two sessions — one in the classroom and a hands-on session in the afternoon. Participants may attend Saturday only. No equipment is necessary. All necessary equipment will be provided. Registration is requested for the seminar because class size is limited. Call the park for more information or to make reservations at 1-800-325-1713.
