Fashionista to the rescue: Fall must haves

Fall is a great time of the year for fashionistas.  We are able to pull out our favorite sweaters, scarves and boots and layer until our hearts are content.  Below are a few of my fall must haves for 2010.

  • Over the Knee Boots paired with a dress or leggings and a tunic are making an appearance again this year on the runway.  If you didn’t get a pair last year, make that your first purchase this fall.
  • Bold colors will add a little sizzle to any outfit.  This fall go with dark turquoise, plums, chartreuse, and tomato red.
  • Layer scarves for a dramatic look. Two bold colors paired together can make even a white t-shirt look amazing.
  • Fur always seems to pop up every 5 years or so.  I’m personally dying for a black leather bomber with fur trim.
  • Mixing bold patterns together will always make an outfit stand out.  Try a hound’s tooth dress pant paired with a bold stripe button up.
  • Mixing your metallics is a total do.  I love to take a chunky gold necklace and mix it with huge silver rings.
  • Hats are everywhere this year.  Whether you look great in a fedora or a newsboy cap, this is an easy way to add some style to any casual look.
  • Graphite nail polish adds subtle, modern pop to your outfit and will go with everything.
  •  Mules: At first I was a little nervous about this trend, but with the right choice, it’s a total do! Look for pairs that have wood platforms, distressed leather and studs.
  • Vintage cocktail rings are always one of my favorites, but for this fall I recommend taking it a step farther.  Take your favorite rings and wear several at one time, maybe even on the same finger if you dare.  Think Rachel Zoe for this look.
