Lady Tops move up two spots at Rebel Intercollegiate

Western Kentucky’s women’s golf team moved up two spots on the team leaderboard during the second round at the Rebel Intercollegiate hosted by Ole Miss on Saturday in Oxford, Miss.

The Lady Toppers fired an 18-over 306 to move into sole possession of ninth place through 36 holes on the Ole Miss Golf Course. WKU has posted a 36-hole score of 40-over 616 (310-306) over the first two days and are three strokes back of eighth-place Memphis. Troy’s six-under 282 on Saturday has the Trojans leading the 15-team field by 20 strokes after two days.

Emily Alexander matched her opening-round 76 on Saturday, shooting four-over par to sit at eight-over 152 (76-76). Alexander is tied for 22nd with six other golfers.

Daniela Galassi tied her lowest round of the 2015-16 season on Saturday, firing a four-over 76 to bring her 36-hole total to 10-over 154 (78-76). The junior is tied alongside Samford’s Emily Uhland, Murray State’s Jacklyn Van Meter (a 2013 South Warren High School graduate) and ETSU’s Rachel Pollock for 37th place.

Ellinor Haag tallied the Lady Toppers’ lowest round of the tournament thus far with her three-over 75 for a 36-hole total of 11-over 155 (80-75). Haag is tied for 41st. Georgina Blackman (+10, 82) and Katie Story (+7, 79) closed out the card for WKU on Saturday and are tied for 58th and 77th, respectively, in the field of 89 golfers.

Competing as an individual, Michaela Bordeianu tallied a nine-over 81. The senior is 86th overall going into Sunday’s final round.

Murray State’s Moa Folke leads the rest of the field by two strokes at five-under 139 (71-68) through 36 holes.

Sunday’s final round will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. The Lady Toppers are set to be paired with Memphis and Fresno State for the final round.
