Barren County teams move up in latest poll

After sweeping crosstown rival Glasgow in a District 15 doubleheader, the Barren County boys’ and girls’ teams both jump back into the top five in the latest Daily News Area Top 10 polls.

The Trojans jump to third in the boys’ poll, behind unanimous No. 1 Warren Central and Bowling Green, which moves up to second after winning the Meijer Holiday Classic last week.

Glasgow is fourth behind Barren County, with Monroe County fifth.

Warren East, South Warren, Clinton County, Greenwood and Todd County Central round out the boys’ poll.

In the girls’ poll, the Trojanettes move up a spot to fifth, edging Glasgow, which drops two spots to six.

South Warren remains No. 1 with eight first-place votes. Russell County holds at second – with one first-place vote – while Edmonson County is third and Bowling Green moves up a spot to fourth.

Allen County-Scottsville follows Glasgow in seventh, with Warren East, Logan County and Greenwood rounding out the girls’ poll.
