Barren County jumps to three in latest poll

In the midst of an eight-game win streak, the Barren County boys’ basketball team makes a big jump in the latest Daily News Area Top 10, rising from sixth to third.

The Trojans have not lost since dropping four straight and falling below .500 on Jan. 11.

Warren Central remains the No. 1 team, with Bowling Green close behind in second. The Dragons received seven first-place votes, 106 total points, while the Purples received four first-place votes, 103 total points.

District 15 rivals follow Barren County in the top 5, with Monroe County fourth and Glasgow fifth.

Clinton County, Greenwood, Warren East, Todd County Central and South Warren round out the top 10.

In the girls’ poll, South Warren is a unanimous No. 1. Edmonson County breaks the tie with Russell County last week to sit alone in second, with Russell County slipping to third. Barren County holds at fourth, while Bowling Green remains in fifth.

Allen County-Scottsville, Glasgow, Logan County, Warren East and Monroe County round out the top 10.
