Warren East grad Brown has career day for UK against No. 1 Alabama

Kentucky redshirt freshman linebacker Eli Brown (Warren East Class of 2015) turned in a career-best performance for the Wildcats in Saturday’s 34-6 loss at No. 1 Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Brown tallied a career-high seven tackles (one solo) for UK. Brown’s previous single-game best was two tackles, achieved twice earlier this season in games against Florida and New Mexico State.

Wildcats sophomore defensive tackle Adrian Middleton (South Warren Class of 2014) added two solo tackles for Kentucky (2-3 overall, 1-2 Southeastern Conference)

The Wildcats return to action Oct. 8 at home against SEC rival Vanderbilt at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.

Lindsey Wilson senior running back Jalen Sublett (Glasgow Class of 2012) led the Blue Raiders to a record-setting night in Saturday’s 53-17 home victory over Union College in Columbia.

Sublett ran for a school-record 194 yards and tied a single-game record with three rushing touchdowns. His 80-yard TD run also set a school record. The Blue Raiders, ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA poll, broke their single-game record for rushing yards (410 yards) and total offense (657 yards).

Sublett also had two catches for nine yards in the win.

For Union (3-2), sophomore linebacker Anthony Kelsey (Warren East Class of 2014) finished with one tackle.

Lindsey Wilson (6-0) is back in action Oct. 8 at University of the Cumberlands. Union hosts No. 23 Bethel (Tenn.) on Oct. 8.

Centre suffered its first loss of the season depute another standout performance by Colonels junior quarterback Devin Hayes (Bowling Green Class of 2014).

Hayes completed 23 of 43 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns in Centre’s 35-28 loss at Hendrix (Ark.) on Saturday in Conway, Ark. Hayes also completed a two-point conversion pass for a touchdown, led the Colonels in rushing with 35 yards on 11 attempts and punted once for 34 yards.

Colonels sophomore running back Colin Burnam (Warren Central Class of 2015) added a pair of tackles on special teams.

Centre (4-1 overall, 2-1 Southern Athletic Association) is back in action Oct. 8 at home against SAA rival Millsaps.

Murray State redshirt freshman wide receiver Jensen Feggins tallied one catch for 19 yards during the Racers’ 45-17 road win over Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay on Saturday in Clarksville, Tenn.

Murray State (1-4 overall, 1-1 OVC) is back in action Oct. 15  at home against OVC rival UT Martin.

Morehead State redshirt senior running back Adarius Barnett (Warren East Class of 2012) totaled 15 rushing yards on three carries for the Eagles in Saturday’s 29-26 home win over Valparaiso.

Morehead State (2-3 overall, 1-1 Pioneer Football League) returns to action Oct. 8 at PFL rival Dayton.

Indiana State redshirt sophomore defensive back Rondell Green (Warren Central Class of 2014) had a pair of pass breakups for the Sycamores in Saturday’s 45-24 home loss to Missouri State.

The Sycamores (3-2 overall, 1-1 Missouri Valley Football Conference), who entered the game ranked No. 24 in Division I-AA, return to action Oct. 8 at No. 8 Western Illinois.

Columbia senior wide receiver Scooter Hollis (Bowling Green Class of 2012) totaled one catch for eight yards in the Lions’ 48-13 home loss to Ivy League rival Princeton on Saturday.

Columbia (0-3 overall, 0-1 Ivy League) is back in action Oct. 8 at Wagner.

Kentucky Christian freshman defensive back Daelin Carpenter (Bowling Green Class of 2016) was awarded the team’s Scout Team Defense Player of the Week award following last week’s practices leading up to the Knights’ home game against Georgetown.
