Local gas prices down slightly this week
Gas prices in westcentral Kentucky are two cents cheaper this week at $1.984 per gallon, according to the AAA Gas Price Report. Kentucky’s statewide average is $2.05, up four cents from last week.
Bowling Green, with an average price of $1.975, is lower than Louisville ($2.075) but higher than Elizabethtown ($1.933), Owensboro ($1.969) and Paducah ($1.970).
Counties with the lowest average prices in southcentral Kentucky are Barren ($1.872), Metcalfe ($1.849) and Simpson ($1.882).
For the sixth straight week, national gasoline inventories increased, adding 2.7 million barrels in the latest Energy Information Administration report. Total stocks sit at 57 million barrels – a 4 million year-over-year surplus.
At a penny more expensive on the week, the national gas price average ($2.25) increased for the first time since October. Despite the increase, today’s average is still lower than the same period in 2018 by 28 cents per gallon.
