Lost River Cave fundraiser brings fresh food to table

Lost River Cave is hosting a new fundraiser that will help the park in its mission to get people, particularly kids, outdoors.

“In years past we’ve always had an annual fundraiser in July, but we decided to try something different this year,” park marketing and communications coordinator Nicole Coomer said. “(Park Director) Rho Lansden has been to similar events.”

Crop to Cave will be July 23 at the historic cavern nightclub at Lost River Cave at 2818 Nashville Road. Doors open at 7 p.m., with dinner at 7:30 p.m. Blues and rock band Toad Strangler will perform at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $65 and may be purchased online at lostrivercave.org/croptocave. Proceeds will benefit the Lost River Cave Nature Center, educational programs and trail maintenance. For more information, call Katie Cielinski at 270-393-0077.

“What we like to say our donors support on the property is woodlands, wetlands and wildlife,” Coomer said. “We’re trying to remind people that we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by people in the community. This gives them an opportunity to support us.”

Josh Poling of Home Cafe will prepare the menu, Coomer said.

“He is working with local farms to get fresh ingredients for the evening,” she said.
