Sargent leads Hilltoppers after two rounds at Boilermaker Invitational

Western Kentucky’s Billy Tom Sargent leads the Hilltoppers through two rounds at Purdue’s Boilermaker Invitational, sitting in a tie for 20th with one round to go in West Lafayette, Ind.

Sargent, a redshirt junior, shot a 2-under 70 in Saturday’s second round at the par-72, 7,465-yard Kampen Golf Course. He shot a 76 in the opening round for a first-day total of 146. 

Junior Stuart Easton is one shot back of Sargent at 147 (71-76), notching the Hilltoppers’ other under-par round of the day. 

WKU is in 15th place as a team with a 598 (301-297) total in a field that features nine teams ranked in the GolfStat Top 100. Kent State and Northwestern lead the standings at 579.

Redshirt sophomore Linus Lo is tied for 52nd for the Hilltoppers with a two-round total of 150 (77-73). Freshman Crimson Callahan (77-78) and sophomore Tom Bevington (78-81) shot a 155 and 159, respectively.

The final round is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on Sunday with a shotgun start.
