In Pictures: Bobby Keys Band @ Twisted Tap 2/26/2012

It’s not very often (like never) that a Rolling Stone (and then some) comes to Bowling Green with an all-star band. But that’s exactly what happened at the Twisted Tap when sax man Bobby Keys took the stage. Bringing with him members of the Georgia Sattelites, Black Crows, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Keys has had this band together for awhile now touring the country. The stars he has played with over his long and distinguished career is not limited to the Stones either. How about the early days with Dion and post-Beatles with John Lennon? He’s been around and it shows.

So we were treated to all those good sax solos from Stones tunes like “Brown Sugar”, “Bitch”, and “Live With Me”, amongst others. Also, we heard “The Wanderer” and the hot sax solo that starts with the high note in “Whatever Gets You Through the Night”. There were two sets, the second even better than the first. Dan Baird did a great job on lead vocals and guitar and the drummer with the local ties, Steve Gorman, was keeping the beat all night. Good call on this one, Marc Maggard at The Twisted Tap.
