Western Kentucky University students will have more access to downtown Bowling Green with new parking and transportation options starting next week.

Free parking will open Monday in the parking garage next to the Bowling Green Ballpark on East 8th Avenue, according to an emailed message from WKU’s Parking and Transportation Services. 

There will also be transport to and from campus via WKU’s Topper Transit Red Line. 

The route extension to the parking garage also includes adding four new stops and the removal of a stop at East 11th Avenue and College Street.

The new routes include stops at East 8th Avenue and Center Street for the downtown garage; State and Main streets for Fountain Square Park; State Street and East 11th Avenue and Center Street and East 11th Avenue. 

Transit service runs Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters.

Buses run from 7:20 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. in eight-minute intervals, from 2:40 p.m. to 5:52 p.m. in 16-minute intervals and from 5:52 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in 32-minute intervals.
