Hot Rods win sixth straight
The Bowling Green Hot Rods won a sixth straight game with a 7-2 victory at Lansing (Mich.) on Wednesday.
Blake Bivens improved to 5-3 on the season, working a career-high seven innings while equaling a career-high nine strikeouts. The right-hander has worked five or more innings in all 11 starts with Bowling Green, posting a 2.87 ERA.
Brett Sullivan and David Olemedo-Barrera finished with two hits and an RBI each to pace the offense, while Brandon Lowe added a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.
With the victory, Bowling Green (62-45 overall, 25-13 second half) increased its lead for a playoff spot to nine games with 32 games remaining.
The Hot Rods continue the series in Lansing at 6:05 CDT on Thursday with a matchup of Midwest League All-Star left-handers – Genesis Cabrera (7-4, 3.78) for the Hot Rods and Angel Perdomo (3-5, 3.00) for the Lugnuts.
