Logan County knocks off Spartans in extra innings
Logan County scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning and held on for a 5-3 baseball win at South Warren on Tuesday.
Third Bell was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Cougars, who totaled four hits in the win. Parker White tallied two RBIs for Logan County (25-6).
Riley Ferguson pitched the final 1 1/3 innings in relief to earn the win for the Cougars, striking out three while allowing one hit.
Logan County’s Koby Wall pitched the first 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) off five hits and six walks.
He struck out five in the no-decision.
AJ Isable was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and drove in a run to lead South Warren (23-10).
ACS 6, Warren East 1
Aaron Howell was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs to lead host Allen County-Scottsville to a 6-1 baseball win over Warren East on Tuesday.
Brett Rippy added a double and two RBIs for the Patriots. Hunter Foster started and went four innings to earn the win for ACS (10-15), allowing one unearned run while striking out two.
Warren East (14-19) tallied four hits in the loss.
Softball
Franklin-Simpson 10, Bowling Green 0
Franklin-Simpson’s Madison Davis fired a six-inning no-hitter as the host Lady Cats beat Bowling Green 10-0 on Tuesday.
Davis allowed four walks and no hits while fanning six in the complete-game win for Franklin-Simpson. Davis also hit a solo homer.
Maddie Utley was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Danielle Coats went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Maggie McBrayer was 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead Franklin-Simpson (17-15).
Greenwood 5, Barren County 3
Host Greenwood produced a four-run rally in the second inning and held on for a 5-3 win over Barren County on Tuesday.
Caitlyn Oliver was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Reagan Fletcher homered and drove in two runs to pace the Lady Gators.
Ally Bush pitched a complete game for Greenwood (18-10), allowing three runs off seven hits and two walks while striking out six.
Mallory Pedigo was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Ashley Hammer drove in two runs for Barren County (27-4).
South Warren 11, Logan County 7
South Warren got a five-RBI effort from Taylor Enlow as the host Spartans beat Logan County 11-7 on Tuesday.
Jessica Bush was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Alexis Stumbo was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Madison Stumbo had two hits and an RBI to lead South Warren (21-11). Caroline Pitcock chipped in with two RBIs for South Warren in the victory
Emerson McKinnis tripled and drove in three runs, and Kennedy Nichols, Shelby Gettings, Lillie Newman and Abby Hinton each finished with two hits apiece for Logan County (20-6).
