Bowling Green Christian Church solicits items for Joplin Relief

Bowling Green Christian Church has become fully committed to helping those in Joplin, MO affected by the recent tornadoes; the church is sending both a team of volunteers and a truck of supplies to the devastated area.  A team of church and community volunteers will be leaving on June 26th for a three day relief mission.  The truck will leave June 27th from the church’s campus on Smallhouse and is presently open to accept supplies from the community.  The Bowling Green Hot Rods have partnered to help by hosting a supply drive during their June 25th game along with donating select portion of proceeds from tickets $10 and up for that night’s game.

Members of the Bowling Green community are invited to help with this effort by dropping off supplies to Bowling Green Christian Church at the game or during normal business hours Monday – Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm.  Donations can be arranged to be picked up by contacting the church office at (270) 842-6231.  Only select supplies are needed: laundry detergent, blankets, tarps, queen-size sheets, clippers/tweezers, Band-Aids, condiments, shampoo, conditioner, pillows, body wash, towels, shaving cream, coffee, razors, tea, hair spray, sugar, trash bags, powdered/flavored drinks, dish soap, denture products, flashlights, sunscreen, batteries, lighters, isopropyl alcohol, antibiotic ointment, salt/pepper, Tylenol (infants’, children’s and adult), hydrogen peroxide, canned fruits and vegetables, and pet food.  Other items, including clothes, furniture and pieces too large to fit in a car will be turned away.

Those who plan on attending the June 25th game in support of this effort are asked to mention ‘JOPLIN’ or enter it (in all caps) as a promo code on the Hot Rods’ website when purchasing tickets.  This will ensure the donations are properly routed to tornado relief.
