New air service brings new marketing opportunities
Planned commercial air service for Bowling Green slated to begin in August will provide opportunities for more than just travel to other cities.
During the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau meeting Executive Director Vicki Fitch said her agency will look for ways to market Bowling Green to the Atlanta area where the daily service will go.
“We want to bring people here; we want it not just being people going out and back. We want to bring people here, tourists, visitors here on that service and Atlanta’s the opportunity for it,” Fitch said during Monday’s CVB meeting.
Board member Larry Bailey said the new routes will bring great opportunities for the city. There also will be seasonal weekend flights to Destin, Fla.
“Talk about a win for Bowling Green and for tourism … . It’s just a plethora of opportunities for us to have people come to Bowling Green …,” Bailey said.
Also discussed during the meeting, the limited supplemental guide signs are up for the Kentucky Museum, Bowling Green Ballpark and two for the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center, Fitch said.
Board member appointments were also brought up with the pending renewal of Dharma Shah and Mike Hughes. Due to health issues, Dan Riley does not plan to renew his seat on the board leaving an opening for a new mayor’s appointee.
