Concert Court: Billy Swayze Band at Tidballs
There’s a new passionate voice on the scene in Bowling Green and his name is Billy Swayze. I especially picked up on this in his songs about loneliness and love. You can feel through his baring of soul the pain of loneliness and unreturned love, the sweetness of good love, and the simple joy of rock, soul, funk, and several other genres of music in his work. Combine this with the look, attitude, and devotion to peformance he possesses and I’m thinking something good might be happening here. After all, this seems to be a good time to be an up and comer in Bowling Green.
Backed by a band that seems to get into it just as much as Billy, the evening was an eye-opener. Murf Adams plays a searing lead guitar, and a killer rhythm section of Chris Placco and Jeremy Pryor keeps the energy in high gear. By the time it was all over there was plenty of sweat and you could tell a lot of energy was spent, and that’s always a good sign that they gave it their all. If you want to catch the wave before it crests go see these guys soon. They play here a bit and elsewhere as well. The new CD, Good Stuff, is out (I think) although it says it’s coming soon on the website. Keep track of this and Billy’s gigs at billyswayze.com.
