Bank robbery reported in Scottsville
The Scottsville Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday at Midwest America Federal Credit Union, 361 Old Gallatin Road.
A black man, who was about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a light beard, sunglasses, a hat and a small black handgun, demanded money and then left on foot, according to SPD dispatcher Donna Bessinger.
The man was possibly seen getting into a white Dodge pickup truck, Bessinger said.

The same man is believed to have walked into a Glasgow bank earlier in the day. Employees at Citizens First Bank in Southgate Plaza called Glasgow police at 11:56 a.m. Wednesday, saying a man wearing a fake beard, latex gloves, a blue-and-white hat and dark-colored pants entered the bank and stayed momentarily before leaving. The man also was apparently seen at about 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Monticello Bank on Happy Valley Road.
Assault arrest —A Nashville man was arrested Tuesday in Logan County and charged with fourth-degree assault, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.
At 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to multiple reports of a male assaulting a female passenger in a black Chevrolet Impala on Bowling Green Road, according to a sheriff’s department news release. The driver was identified as Brandon Simpson, 35, who is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Cassie Harrison of Springville, Tenn. Harrison told deputies that she tried to exit the car and Simpson pulled her by her hair back into the vehicle.
Harrison was transported to Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville for treatment of multiple injuries.
Simpson was lodged in Logan County Detention Center in Russellville.
Injury wreck —A Bowling Green woman was critically injured in a Wednesday morning wreck on Mount Olivet Road.
Kelli Cowles, 37, was driving a green Jeep westbound on Mount Olivet Road when the vehicle left the shoulder of the road, struck a mailbox, traveled through several lawns and hit a tree before stopping at the front porch of a home at 3744 Mount Olivet Road at 6:22 a.m., according to a news release from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
Cowles was taken by ambulance to The Medical Center and later flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where she was listed in stable condition as of 3 p.m.
Cowles was wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the incident.
The wreck is under investigation.
