Allen County Kentucky Historical Society Autumn Homecoming
The Allen County Kentucky Historical Society announces the first ever “Autumn Homecoming”, Saturday, September 25, 2010, 1-5pm.
“Our traditional fundraising event each year is typically the October “Graveline Tour”, states Jolene Cooper, President of the Historical Society. “However, the old Scottsville Cemetery is not accessible this year due to city improvements. We wanted to continue our efforts to share Allen County’s ancestral past with the community while raising funds to support our museum and genealogy room. We decided on an Autumn Homecoming in place of the candle light graveyard tour”.
The event will be held at the Historical Society site on 4th Street, Scottsville, KY. With music by up and coming Country artist Marsh Morgan, there will be activities for all ages to enjoy. Children’s games, face painting, food, craft vendors, craft demonstrators, traditional cake walk, raffle, historical presentations, and a corn hole tournament will keep everyone busy for the afternoon.
For more information, contact the Allen County Historical Society, PO Box 393, Scottsville, KY 42164 or Jolene Cooper at 270-622-8717 or 270-237-3086. The museum and research room is open 11-3:30 Monday – Thursday. Other times by appointment only.
