Man accused of pouring gas on another man, setting him on fire

A Bonnieville man is in critical condition after suffering severe burns to the majority of his body.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received a call at 11:21 a.m. Sunday from a man who said someone poured gasoline on his relative and then set the man on fire, according to a release from KSP. The incident was reported to have occurred on Falling Springs Church Road in Hart County but the caller met responding personnel at the Huckleberry’s Market in Bonnieville with the victim.

When troopers arrived on scene they found Roger Buckner, 25, suffering from serious burns to most of his body. Buckner was taken by medical helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital where he is listed in critical condition, according to the release.

Monday police found Jason Kitzero, 39, of Bonnieville in a wooded area off of Dennison Ferry Road and arrested him on an attempted murder charge, according to the release. He is lodged in the Hart County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 cash bond, according to online jail records.

The investigation is ongoing.
