Neblett helps Columbia get off to first-ever 3-0 start in Ivy League volleyball
Columbia University senior middle hitter Kesi Neblett (Gatton Academy/Russellville Class of 2013) has helped the Lions get off to their first 3-0 start in Ivy League play in school history.
Against Ivy League rival Yale on Sept. 30, Neblett tallied eight kills, four digs, one ace, one solo block and six block assists in Columbia’s 3-2 (14-25, 22-25, 27-25, 25-21, 15-9) comeback victory.
Neblett notched two kills, one digs, one solo block and three block assists in the Lions’ 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-22) home win over Brown on Oct. 1.
Columbia (8-5 overall, 3-0 Ivy League) is back in action Oct. 8 at home against Princeton.

Asbury University junior setter Rachyl Miller (Logan County Class of 2014) helped her squad win two of three matches over the past week.
Miller totaled 27 assists, five digs and an ace in Asbury’s 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17) loss at Point Park (Pa.) on Oct. 1. Playing against Carlow (Pa.) at that same site later in the day, Asbury regrouped for a 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-13) win. Miller had 12 assists and four digs.
On Tuesday at Cincinnati Christian, Miller tallied 21 assists six digs and an ace in Asbury’s 3-1 (25-22, 27-25, 17-25, 25-14) victory.
Asbury (6-11 overall, 4-3 River States Conference) is back in action Oct. 11 at Cumberland (Tenn.).

Kentucky Wesleyan freshman Sierra Morrow (Logan County Class of 2016) helped the Panthers with one of three Great Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball matches this past week.
In a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-23) home loss to Cedarville (Ohio) on Sept. 30, Morrow totaled seven kills and two digs. On Oct. 1 against visiting Ohio Valley (W.Va.), Morrow had four kills, two assists, a team-high four aces and two block assists in the Panthers’ 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-21) win.
Against Trevecca (Tenn.) on Tuesday, Morrow had three kills and three digs in Kentucky Wesleyan’s 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-12) home loss.
Kentucky Wesleyan (7-9 overall, 2-3 G-MAC) is back in action Oct. 8 at home against Cumberlands.

Brescia junior defensive specialist Courtney Reels (South Warren Class of 2014) helped her team win one of three volleyball matches over the past week.
On the road at West Virginia Tech on Oct. 1, Reels tallied two aces and four digs in a 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22) loss.
Later that same day vs. Rio Grande (Ohio), Reels had six digs in a 3-2 (25-23, 25-21, 15-25, 15-25, 15-10) victory.
On Tuesday at home against IU Southeast, Reels totaled five digs in a 3-1 (25-18, 28-26, 22-25, 25-21) defeat.
Brescia (9-10 overall, 2-4 River States Conference) is back in action Thursday at home against Midway University.

Austin Peay junior cross country runner Sarah-Emily Woodward (Bowling Green Class of 2014) was the second-fastest finisher for the Govs at Saturday’s JSU Invitational in Oxford, Ala.
Woodward completed the 5K course in 19 minutes, 49.8 seconds to finish 51st overall. APSU placed seventh in the team standings.
Austin Peay is back in action Oct. 14 at the Jenna Strong Invitational in Wilmington, Ohio.
