WKU athletics sets new cumulative GPA record

Western Kentucky’s athletics department finished off the 2023 spring semester with the best cumulative department GPA on record at 3.20.
The previous department record was set in the spring of 2021 with a GPA of 3.19. The top four highest cumulative career GPAs have come in each of the last four years for the department (2023: 3.20; 2021: 3.19; 2022: 3.18; 2020: 3.14).
Twelve of WKU’s 14 sport programs have a team cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. There are six teams that have a team cumulative GPA higher than 3.50.
About 68% of all WKU student-athletes are maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and 72% recorded a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher this past spring.
A total of 208 student-athletes were named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. There were 61 WKU student-athletes who earned the Commissioner’s Academic Medal for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.
There were 50 WKU student-athletes who graduated in the spring or will graduate at the end of the summer. The class had a cumulative GPA of 3.49, marking the highest graduating class GPA since at least 2010. Over the entire year, 78 student-athletes earned their degrees from WKU.{&end}
