Western Kentucky men’s basketball head coach Rick Stansbury announced Tuesday the hiring of Hennssy Auriantal as an assistant coach on his staff.
“We’re happy to have Hennssy join our program,” Stansbury said in a news release. “He brings coaching and playing experience at the D-I level in all areas. Besides that, he’s a terrific person and has a beautiful family. We’re excited to have him as part of our team.”
Auriantal is the uncle of former Hilltopper Junior Lomomba, a guard on the 2016-17 Hilltoppers team. He is also the guardian of newly signed freshman center Charles Bassey and Moustapha Diagne, a forward entering his redshirt junior season.
Auriantal brings both Division I playing and coaching experience to WKU.
The Canada native previously worked as an assistant coach at Jackson State in Jackson, Miss., from 2013-15.
Auriantal played four seasons at guard at the University of Wisconsin from 1995-99, competing twice in the NCAA Tournament and once in the NIT. He graduated with a degree in kinesiology and was named to the Big Ten All-Academic Team in 1997 and 1999.
He also competed for the Canadian National Basketball Team the year after graduating from the Badgers program.
Auriantal and his wife, Nathalie, have two sons, Naevhen (3 years old) and Teylan (8 months).
