- Western Kentucky’s Catie Craig is set to play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament starting Monday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Western Kentucky rising senior Catie Craig is set to compete in the 124th U.S. Amateur Women’s Golf Tournament starting Monday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
This is Craig’s second time competing in the tournament. Craig qualified last year along with WKU graduate Sarah Arnold, making them the first-ever WKU female golfers to qualify. Craig shined in the Amateur last year, making it to the Round of 16. Craig was one of just four competitors who played at non-Power 5 schools.
The Georgia native had a busy summer, and this contributed to her being exempt from having to play qualifying rounds for the tournament. Craig claimed the 122nd Women’s North and South Amateur Championship in late June, which made her an automatic qualifier.
The 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur is set to be played at the 6,437-yard, Par-71 Southern Hills Country Club from Monday through Sunday.
The tournament will be structured as traditional 18-hole stroke play through the first two days. The remainder of the tournament will consist of match play. Craig will be one of the 156 players in the field and is set to tee off at 7:25 a.m. on Monday.
