Lady Toppers wrap up solid showing in APSU Fall Tournament

Western Kentucky’s women’s tennis team wrapped up action in the APSU Fall Tournament on Sunday at the Governors Tennis Courts with matches against Murray State in Clarksville, Tennessee.

The Lady Toppers swept doubles play against the Racers and won five of the eight matches the two programs played in singles on Sunday.

“Today was our best day of the tournament,” WKU coach Greg Davis said in a news release. “We challenged at every line and every match. Murray State has a tremendous program and it was good to see us compete at such a high level.”

In total, WKU claimed victories in 23 of 35 matches during the three-day APSU Fall Tournament, which saw matches the first two days played in Bowling Green at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park. WKU went 7-4 in doubles play in the event and 16-8 in singles play.

The next time the Lady Toppers will compete will be Oct. 10-14 at the ITA Regionals in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
