Western Kentucky’s football team had another entrant into the NCAA transfer portal Wednesday, with wide receiver Moussa Barry announcing his entry.
“Officially in the Transfer Portal,” Barry posted on his X (formerly Twitter) social media account. “Thanks to Coach (Tyson) Helton and all the other coaches at WKU for allowing me to showcase my talents.”
Barry, who will be a redshirt sophomore next season, spent one season at WKU after transferring from NCAA Division 2 program Mars Hill.
A 6-foot-2, 190-pound native of Dacula, Georgia, Barry had a productive first season with the Hilltoppers in 2023. Barry appeared in 11 games and earned a Conference USA All-Freshman Team honor.
Barry tallied nine receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown this past season. His first catch for the Tops came in the season opener against South Florida, when Barry hauled in a 51-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Austin Reed.
Barry tallied a season-high three catches against Middle Tennessee in the Tops’ 31-10 win on Sept. 28.
Barry has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
WKU also confirmed defensive lineman Ryan Williams and Trent Zappe have entered the transfer portal.
Williams, entering his redshirt junior season, played in the Tops’ first two games last season and tallied three total tackles. The 6-3, 292-pound defensive lineman from Pearland, Texas, joined the Hilltoppers as a transfer from Colorado. He’ll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Zappe, the younger brother of former WKU standout quarterback Bailey Zappe, did not see game action in two seasons with the Hilltoppers.
The 6-0, 225-pound native of Victoria, Texas, will be entering his redshirt sophomore year in the 2024 season.
