“Anytime a former Hilltopper can make it to the Olympics, we feel a great sense of pride,” WKU track and field coach Brent Chumbley said in a news release. “We wish Kyree the best as he competes for Team USA.”

King was a member of the decorated 4×100 relay team that made its way to the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships, where they claimed a fifth-place finish. Along the way, the relay team won the 2016 Conference USA Outdoor Championship. King also claimed the CUSA crown in the 100-meter dash.

His finish in the 200 at the NCAA Championships gave him the designation of All-American. In total, the native of Ontario, California, competed in four events at that year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Some of his other accolades include being a member of Team USA for the 2024 World Athletics Relays, a silver medalist at the 2022 NACAC Championships, and a semifinalist at the 2023 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The 4×100 relay team is set to compete on Aug. 8 in Paris. The Olympics kick off Friday with the opening ceremony. Events can be viewed on the networks of NBC, Peacock, USA, as well as the NBC Olympics App.
