Logan County senior guard Maegann Hardison led by example in the Lady Cougars’ 62-44 victory Monday over Cumberland County in the opening round of the girls’ Region 4 Tournament at E.A. Diddle Arena, scoring a game-high 23 points to lead LCHS to its first region tournament win since 2010.

Hardison said as one of two seniors, along with forward Kapreshia Powell, she felt it was important to provide leadership for the rest of the team.

“We’ve been here before,” Hardison said. “We’ve been in these situations. We have to lead the younger (players) and show them, not only for this year, but so they know how to excel in future years.”

The Lady Cougars will face Bowling Green in the region semifinals at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at E.A. Diddle Arena.
