Western Kentucky University senior center Chris Marcus has added another honor to his list of preseason laurels this summer, getting the nod as the center on Lindys College Basketball Annuals All-America Team. The complete five-man Lindys honor squad will be announced when its college basketball preview comes out Sept. 25.Lindys is the second preseason All-America selection to date this summer for Marcus, who was selected on Playboys 10-man preseason squad in late June.Marcus an Associated Press All-American following the conclusion of the 2000-01 season and already being touted as perhaps the top big man in the college game in the upcoming year led the nation in rebounding (12.1 rpg) and the Hilltoppers in scoring with his 16.7 ppg average. He helped the Hilltoppers to a 24-7 mark, Sun Belt Conference Tournament and regular-season titles and a berth in the NCAA Tournament last season.For his efforts, Marcus was named the SBC Player of the Year, the MVP of the league tournament, and, for the second season in a row, the SBC Defensive Player of the Year. He also ranked among the nations leaders in double-doubles and blocked shots. A product of Olympic High School in Charlotte, N.C., he is one of four starters and 12 letter winners returning for coach Dennis Feltons Hilltoppers, who have recently been recognized by FOXSports.com as one of the top 35 teams in the nation heading into the new season.
