Rita Vaughan (Mylor)

Bowling Green – Rita Mylor Vaughan, 92, of Bowling Green passed away April 1, 2019 at her residence.
Born in Gallatin County, Kentucky, she is the eldest child of Edward A. and Marie Madin Mylor. Rita graduated from Gallatin County High School, attended Eastern State University in Richmond. She taught in Gallatin and Carroll counties, worked at the Carrollton Tobacco Market, and was Business Manager of Butler State Park before moving with two children to Frankfort where she worked for 13 years in the offices of the State Treasurer and Secretary of State. In 1972 Rita married William R. Vaughan of Louisville. In 1977, the Vaughans moved Southeastern Display, Inc. to Bowling Green. At the death of Mr. Vaughan in 2004, Mrs. Vaughan and her son, Robbie Bond saw that the company continued to grow.
Rita was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was active on several committees including: the History, Arts and Architecture, Administration, 150th Anniversary, and Finance committees. She was a member and past president of the Bowling Green Woman’s Club, member and past president of the Current Events Literary Club, member and past president of the Shamrock Investment Club, and treasurer of the Friends of Nashville Road Neighborhood Association.
Survivors include her son, Robbie Bond and wife Tootie of Bowling Green; daughter, Barbara Bond of Louisville; grandchildren, Katie and Anna Bond, and Stephanie Koetter (Dustin); sister, Mollie Nan Mylor Thibodeau (Tom) of Duluth, Minnesota; and nephew, Matt (Mia) of Duluth.
A funeral mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time at the Church. A visitation will also be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Joseph Church Restoration Fund.
