Bowling Green – Owen Lawson, Jr., 91, of Bowling Green passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Christian Healthcare. The Elizabethtown, KY native was a son of the late Owen Lawson, Sr. and Minnie Nichols Lawson. He was preceded in death by, his daughter, Ruth Ann Mitchell; a son, Richard Lawson; two sisters, Martha Hendershot and Shirley Thomas; two brothers, Harold Lawson and Ralph Lawson.

Mr. Lawson retired with Western Kentucky University as the Physical Plant Administrator, where he previously graduated with a master’s degree in education. Mr. Lawson was formerly on the Western Kentucky University Athletic Committee and Architectural Development Committee. He served as a consultant for the Kentucky Teachers Retirement System and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Mr. Lawson honorably served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Moss Lawson of Bowling Green, KY; one son, Thomas O. Lawson (Margie) of Golden, CO; one sister, Lillian Weinreich (Larry) of Independece, MO; one brother, Leonard Lawson of Elizabethtown, KY; three grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, April 15, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Additional visitation will be on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 12:00 P.M. to service time at the funeral home.
