Michael Wayne Childers

Michael Wayne Childers, 61, of Bowling Green, died Jan. 26, 2012, at 2 a.m. at the Hospice Center.

He was born Nov. 6, 1950, in Bowling Green to the late Harold and Virginia Alice Rakes Childers. He was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel. Friends may call on the family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Wingfield Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Laverne Glass Childers of Bowling Green; a daughter, Wendy Sturgeon, and husband, Bobby, of Bowling Green; a son, Randy Childers, of Bowling Green; two brothers, Richeard Childers and wife, Rebecca, of Bowling Green and Gary (Shorty) Childers of Morgantown; a sister, Shirley Lowe of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Michael (Mikey), Jennifer, Brandon (Bugg), and Courtney; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica, Isaiah, Makayla, Jasmyn, Kaydence, Phoenix, Jaylee and Kylie.
