The Adair County native was born March 9, 1919. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and patriot. He grew up in Bowling Green and graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1937. He attended Bowling Green Business University and enlisted in the Kentucky National Guard. He was called to active duty in November 1941 and selected for ranger and officer candidate school in Fort Benning, Ga. After being commissioned as a second lieutenant, he was sent into combat in the Pacific theater and was honorably discharged in February 1946. Upon his return from the war, he returned to business university and graduated with a BS in commerce in May 1947. Glenn, a consummate entrepreneur, owned and operated many businesses in and around Bowling Green. A passionate golfer, he belonged to Bowling Green Country Club, where he was club champion in 1975 at the age of 56. He later became a member of Indian Hills Country Club. He was active in civic and fraternal organizations and was a member of the Optimist Club and charter member of the Senators Club. He instilled in his children a sense of character and honor and was especially protective of his five daughters and proud of his three sons. They carry on his values, strength, integrity and work ethic. He was a son of the late G.H. and Ila Claywell Fields and the husband of the late Mary Alicia Webb Fields.
