Garry Marr Comer

BOWLING GREEN – It is with great sorrow and bitter sweet gratitude the Comer family is announcing the passing of Garry Marrs Comer.

Garry, age 77, passed away in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on January 7, 2024. He was born to the late Earl Payne and Dorothy Gloradyne (Hix) Comer in June of 1946.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son William Andrew Comer.

Garry Comer, a Bowling Green native, graduated high school from College Heights in 1965, following graduation he began his studies at Western Kentucky University.

The beginning of his college career was brief as he joined the Air Force in 1965 with honorable discharge in 1968.

Once returning home from service, he continued his college education at WKU and joined the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, gaining life long friendships.

While in college he worked at the Bowling Green post office and continued after graduation.

Garry obtained a small farm in Alvaton, where he farmed with his father, Earl.

In 1988, he became the Postmaster for Gamaliel, until 1997.

Garry enjoyed his career, farming, his children and family, as well as attending local sporting events.

Garry was baptized September 11th, 2016 where he declared Jesus as his Lord and savior.

Survivors include his children; James David Comer (Emilee Comer), Jennifer Payne Comer, Dorothy Caitlin “Kate” Stucky (Leo Stucky), Heather Renee Comer, and Michelle Comer Coughlin (Shane Coughlin).

Fifteen grandchildren, one sister Tana Comer, and a host of extended family members also survive.

Visitation will be from 11 until 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2023 with a funeral service conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, all at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
