Louisville – Mr. Daniel Ernest Lamont, Jr., 82, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Baptist Health Louisville. Mr. Lamont, the son of Daniel Ernest Lamont and Mary Klein Lamont, was born on November 5, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and Western Kentucky University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1958.
He was a retired office manager at the Glasgow Electric Plant Board, and he subsequently worked at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in various capacities. He was a former member of the Glasgow Kiwanis Club, and a member of First Baptist Church in Bowling Green. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, spending time with family, and cheering on the Cincinnati Reds, Louisville Bats, and the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers. For him, every day was “bright and glorious.”
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Wilkins Lamont. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Cathy Lamont, his daughter and son-in-law, Tiffanie and Rob Gorstein, two cherished grandchildren, Brice and Ella, brothers- and sisters-in-law Royce and Marilyn Speck and Joe and Frances Wilkins, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green, KY, with visitation from 12:00-2:00, before the service. Pastor Greg Allen of Southeast Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 1940 Scottsville Rd. Bowling Green, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
