A Tennessee woman was killed Thursday on the William Natcher Parkway after driving her car into opposing traffic and colliding with two other vehicles.

Amber L. Buechlein, 23, of Antioch, Tenn., was driving in a red Mitsubishi Eclipse north on the parkway at about 1:15 p.m. when witnesses say a white vehicle forced the Mitsubishi off the road, said Trooper Terry Alexander of the Kentucky State Police in Bowling Green.

The vehicle was later identified as a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado driven by Mattie Quintrelle of Morgantown, according to a state police report. Quintrelle’s vehicle had drifted into the left lane from the right lane, forcing Buechlein to take evasive action to avoid a collision. Quintrelle had left the scene by the time state police arrived.

Buechlein drove her vehicle off the road, attempted to pull back onto the road, overcorrected and ended up driving into oncoming traffic, Alexander said. The Mitsubishi struck a truck and van.

Buechlein, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Alexander said.

The drivers and passengers of the truck and van did not suffer serious injuries and refused treatment. Each of them was wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

The accident remains under investigation. It is still unknown if any charges will be filed against Quintrelle, state police Trooper Todd Holder said this morning.
