The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Allen County near New Buck Creek Road.
The Daily News has learned that a Simpson County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been shot and the subject responsible is dead.
Tpr. Daniel Priddy, public affairs officer for KSP Post 3 – Bowling Green, could only confirm that the scene has been contained and there is no further danger to citizens in the area.
KSP released more details about the incident on Sunday morning. According to a release, the shooting occurred around 5:10 p.m. Saturday and a male subject was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Allen County Coroner.
Additionally, a SCSO deputy was transported to a hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries.
Simpson County Judge-Executive Mason Barnes shared via social media Saturday evening that the injured deputy is stable and being treated at a hospital.
KSP personnel and deputies from both the Allen and Simpson County Sheriff’s Office had been combing the area near the road, located southwest of Scottsville, all day Saturday in pursuit of 37-year-old Jeremy Rollenhagen.
According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, ACSO was assisting SCSO with the pursuit of Rollenhagen early Saturday morning, during which he had fired at a SCSO deputy. The deputy was not injured.
Barnes had shared that law enforcement officers were in pursuit of an individual who had “allegedly kidnapped a lady in Bowling Green.”
The pursuit crossed into Allen County and the suspect vehicle was found near New Buck Creek Road and Joe Shelton Road.
The entrances to New Buck Creek Road were blocked off by law enforcement vehicles for multiple hours on Saturday while authorities used a helicopter to assist in the search of the rural acreage.
Per the release, it is “KSP’s standard operating procedure not to release specific details until vital witnesses have been interviewed and pertinent facts gathered” in order to protect the integrity of an ongoing investigation.
